In the end, Earl turned out to deliver just a few hours of rain with some breeze. It seriously lost power yesterday, going from 140mph winds at the core to less than 70mph by the time it reached the waters off New England. The core also kept well east of the coast, so we only saw 15mph winds.
All of that excitement, for a gentle evening rain. And now the sun is back out!

I had been following Earl and thank Goodness the storm was gentle to the New England coast.I remember spending a few months in RI in the 1978-79 and experienced every adverse weather condition, and more severely, I believe, than every other NE state. During that time there was the oil embargo and the thermostats were to be set no higher than 65*F and at the same time we experienced the steady cold winds directly from Russia as it was called then. Was glad to get home that February. Enjoy the beautiful weather, make the most of today.
