Danielle had a big number roll over a few days ago, and Jabari was here visiting to celebrate with us. Below are pics from several days leading up to the main event, starting with drinks with friends. We also went hiking on Battle Road between Lexington and Concord, walking the path British troops followed under constant fire when retreating back to Boston in the first fight of the Revolutionary War. Along the way we also saw the bend in the road where Paul Revere was captured during his midnight ride to warn the colonists (he didn't make it to Concord in time, but someone else did). Jabari made a delicious Colombian dessert with fruit, whipped cream, and chocolate which was thoroughly devoured.
On the birthday itself we went out for Japanese hot pot with Jabari, which none of us had eaten before. It was a fun experience: you cook thinly sliced meats and veggies in broth boiling on the table, and then dip then in a variety of sauces. Back home we had coconut milk creme brule and the rest of the b-day festivities.
