We just got back from a wonderful and relaxing trip to Sonoma with my family. Our first stop was the Russian river valley and wine country, which was extremely hot a couple days we were there but still a lot of fun. After three days staying in the redwoods and venturing out into the heat during the day for biking and wine tasting, we moved down to Point Reyes where we were joined by my aunt, uncle, and their daughter. Point Reyes National Seashore is one of my favorite places in the world. It is simply beautiful and peaceful, partly because it is so often foggy along the coast here. The fog and the trees combine to produce a very personal experience while walking the trails there, quiet, reflective, and serene. The park also has an amazing variety of habitats, from mossy fern-covered deciduous forests to dry and parched coastal scrub, from dense and dark stands of fir trees to sprawling green or golden meadows.
