What an incredible moment in history. We were visiting my brother today and watched the proceedings from my parent's house.
The crowds gathered in DC were incredible, an endless sea of people. Danielle exclaimed multiple times how she wished we could be there and be a part of it.
Obama's inaugural address was quite powerful, what really stood out for me was the direct and candid discussion of the difficult times the country is in. Sitting just a few feet away was the man who when faced with the greatest challenge to the country in a generation called for everyone to "go shopping." It would have been quite revealing to be a fly in Bush's head, hearing his internal thoughts. The whole ceremony, and particularly Obama's speech, had a feeling like the grown-ups coming in to pick up the pieces created by some irresponsible children. The power and authority of Obama was frankly refreshing, filling a real void that I hadn't even realized has been lacking in American politics for as long as I can remember.
The sky is certainly bluer and the day brighter than it has been in a while.

Am I sensing Joey's American pride slowly stirring from its eight-year slumber? People are afraid their idol will disappoint them, but unless he starts another war in Iran or Pakistan, it's nothing but up from here.
